Why you should bother listening to the Game of Thrones series.

If you don’t know what Game of Thrones is, you’ve probably been living under a rock. If you’re not interested in Game of Thrones then you probably shouldn’t be on this website. A lot of people prefer to watch the TV show as opposed to listening to the books. It’s easier to do, takes less time and all the sex and violence really brings people together. So why bother listening to a massive 200 hours worth of audiobooks when you already know what’s going to happen? Because there’s more to obsess over. Everything hits you harder because you invest so much in each of the characters. You think the TV series tore you apart? Well, you know nothing dear reader. If you don’t believe that audiobooks are as exciting as TV, then you’ve never listened to Roy Dotrice narrate a Game of Thrones battle scene.

The beauty of having Game of Thrones on audiobook is that it has all the convenience of television and all the magic of books. You’re free to imagine Westeros and all its people in any way you like. It’s up to you to try and figure out the complicated ending instead of being spoon fed it by a series. The books are popular for a reason. People want to know this world and the characters, plus you feel like a champion when you reach the end of the books. In short, the books tell an amazing story, one that’s worth hearing and taking note of. Martin’s invested 24 years of his life (so far) to this story, so if there is any story you should listen to, it’s his.

I have listened to audio books in the past. They are not just for blind people. It is great to listen to a book when you have to drive long distances, which I did as part of my job.

I have seen most of Game of Thrones on TV and I must agree that it is so much better to create a movie in your own mind as to what is happening when listening to books. It stimulates the mind to imagine what the book is about.

I LOVE game of thrones! It’s the best thing out there at the moment. My husband is starting a new job which involves alot of driving.

I thought this would be perfect for him, to keep him occupied. Are they completely up to date in terms of where the TV series is at?

    • Ty and Gab

      Hi Ruth,

Thanks for your comment. This would definitely be ideal for driving. I always have to have an audiobook for long car rides. Great way to get kids into it too.

The Audiobooks are actually further ahead! So you can find out all the juicy details before your friends haha!

      Happy Listening.

    Dear Tylerbevins,

This is quite a cool Blog Post you have written. 🙂 I was not aware much of the Game of Thrones being a Book Series as I am on that it being a famous TV Series moreso. 🙂 I think I would much rather prefer reading the Book because usually the Book is better than the stuff you see on the big screen. Books tend to hold true to more info whereas the stuff on TV might be more condensed and crop out something from the Book.

Would you say you are a huge fan of Game of Thrones? Also, what are the other TV Programs that are similar to Game of Thrones?

Wishing you all the best with your online success above and beyond the horizon,

    ~Angel

Hi Angel, thanks for dropping by!

The Game of Thrones book series, especially on the audiobooks are such an experience. I’m such a huge fan of them. There is nothing quite like Game of Thrones, but there are some pretty cool show’s out there. I know of some equally awesome ones; Breaking Bad, Sherlock, True Detective

Theres show’s like Tudors, Spartacus, Rome, Vikings, that are sort of along the same lines, i.e. distant past/mythology realm.

Cheers, wish you the very best too.

I think this is pretty cool idea! Makes your imagination work more. It will not even interrupt your days work, just like listening to a radio or music.
Game of Thrones audio book is the best! TV and books in one audio. I have started listening to it and wow, it is really amazing!

    • Ty and Gab

      You’re definitely right Leo,

I love to listen while doing the simple things at work.

      Happy Listening!

I never knew the series was on audio books only TV. I can see why there would be such a great interest in the audio tapes as no two people will imagine things the same.

I know from listening to other audio tapes then seeing a video depicting what the audio tape was about are two totally different things for the most part.
Its like reading a book then watch a movie based on the book. The two are very different and most people prefer the imagery they get from reading the book.

Chalk two thumbs up for audio tapes produced on such a great series as game of thrones.

    Hello,

You made a lot of great points here. I have been a fan of Game of Thrones for years but am embarrassed to admit that I have only watched the TV series. I haven’t thought about listening to the audio version of the books until now but that is a great option for me as I don’t love reading novels. I will have to check out your review and maybe pick up a set for my upcoming road trip! Game of Thrones would certainly make the drive a lot more entertaining.

    Thanks a bunch,

      Hey,

the audiobooks are awesome! I had always wanted to read the books but knew i wouldn’t have the time, the beauty of listening to the audiobook is that you can multi task! I listened to the books after watching the series and still really enjoyed it, the books add a lot more to the series and it’s almost easier to follow because you have a good idea of who everybody is. Honestly if it weren’t for audiobooks driving would be so boring.

      Happy road tripping!
